The US-Russia summit in Alaska sparked disappointment on American social media: "Putin is the winner, an international accolade for him."

The lack of historic announcements is the dominant theme among American social media users following the Alaska summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. From X to Instagram, there were many negative comments . Aaron Rupar, an American political journalist followed by nearly a million users on X, commented on the outcome of the meeting with a poisonous summary: " An email would have been enough ." The post went viral, sparking outrage among users. "An emoji would have been enough," commented one. " Or a message on Signal chat ," said a third, referring to the chat in which the Pentagon had released classified information without realizing it had included a journalist.
Even the conservative Fox News highlighted the lack of expected announcements, and how while Vladimir Putin hinted at a " deal ," Trump said there was no deal. Many on social media are emphasizing how the Russian president appears to be the winner, having achieved " international recognition " by being invited to the United States, welcomed on the red carpet, and ridden in Trump's limousine.
